A New Way to Look at Imperfections

2 min readFeb 21, 2025

Imagine a beautiful antique vase, handmade in a faraway country. It has delicate flowers, tall trees, a lake, and cloudy skies, all part of an intricately designed scene. Your gaze is fixated on the beautiful view, but alas, it has a long, unsightly crack distracting from its beauty. Your thoughts turn to sadness that this art piece has been ruined and is now damaged and worthless. But is it?

What if you imagine the crack is beautiful? What if it was adorned with glitter and gold, highlighting the significance of the breakage? What if you celebrated the imperfection and interpreted the crack as a point of interest? What if the breakage only proves how strong the vase was because it’s still intact?

Our lives are much like the broken vase…Held together by our strength, perseverance, and lessons learned. Don’t ever be embarrassed by your “cracks” or imperfections, for they are the unique traits that make you, you!
