And Why You Should Think About it Now

Think about your last day.

How will others remember you? How do you want them to remember you? Were you too rushed to listen to them and their troubles? Did you ever make time to meet them for coffee after their job loss or last break-up?

Did you take that trip to the coast to get away with a special friend? Did you enjoy fun activities with your children and/or grandchildren? Did you make those cookies even though it was a mess to clean up?

Did you do what you said you would do?

Did you make the trip to a cousin’s wedding despite having to fight the traffic and a lot of bother to make the arrangements? Did you lend an ear when your neighbor lost her dog, her child, or her husband? Did you make time to be compassionate to others?

Did you rush around so much in your day to day life that you didn’t make time to do the important things — like live a life worth living?

Or were your days spent on meetings, conferences, out of town business, or chores around the house, barely saying ‘hello’ to family members? Did you even put off your dog who was waiting eagerly for a morning walk? Did you make time for the little things in life that mean something to others?

One way to make better choices about the type of life you want to live is to be more intentional with your day-to-day activities. A way to be more intentional is to WRITE IT DOWN.

Just think about it….if you took the time now to write down how you would want to be remembered in your eulogy, you would have time to grow into being that person! You could take steps every time an opportunity presented itself, to actually do all those things you meant to do, but never did. You could live your best life and make the kind of impact on others that you really want!
